REGISTRATION RENEWAL 2009-2010
Due to the introduction of the Medical Practitioners Act 2008 ("the Act") and the Medical Practitioners Regulations 2008 on 1 December 2008, the Medical Board of Western Australia ("the Board") has introduced a new process for renewal of registration.
Amongst other things, the Act requires the Board obtain detailed information from all renewing medical practitioners and, as such, the process of renewal for the 2009-2010 period will be significantly different to that of previous years.
Online renewal will be offered to practitioners who wish to remain in their current practising category or "downgrade", for example, changing from practising to non-practising. Online renewal will be available through the Boards current website via a set username and password. This information ("renewal pack") will be sent out in the mail to all registered practitioners towards mid-August and practitioners can renew as soon as they receive this information. Please ensure that you have provided the Board with your current postal address.
For practitioners who will be overseas between mid-August and 30 September, renewal information can be sent via email. Please provide the Registration Department with an email address you will be able to access to arrange this: registrations@wa.medicalboard.com.au
The renewal pack will also contain a paper based renewal form and all practitioners have the option of renewing this way if they prefer.
Payment options offered this year are limited to credit card (for online renewal) and cheque/money order (for paper renewal).
As the renewal pack will contain detailed information about the process and the requirements for renewal, the Board is requesting that practitioners thoroughly read this information prior to contacting the Board with any enquiries.
