The Commonwealth Privacy Act (1988) does not apply to the Medical Board of Western Australia ('Board'). |

The Board's records may be subject to the Freedom of Information Act 1992. |

The Board's records may be subject of an order such as a summons or subpoena issued by a court or tribunal. |

However the Board will collect, use, store and disclose information in accordance with best practice - privacy principles that are consistent with, and do not compromise, the Board's functional and legal obligations and where the Board has a legal obligation to collect, use, store and disclose information it will continue to do so. |

The Board's role is to ensure doctors registered in Western Australia are suitably trained and qualified and that standards and procedures in Western Australia are consistent with those in other States. In order to fulfil this role it is necessary for the Board to provide registration information to other State and Federal Government bodies that deal with, manage and provide health services, and to the public. |

The registration information you provide with your application is collected pursuant to the Medical Practitioners Act 2008 ('Act') and used by the Board in undertaking its functions and for the purposes you consent to. |

In accordance with the Act, the following information may be provided to the public about a doctor registered with the Board: name, address advised by doctor on Registration, qualifications, registration status, date of registration, registration number, sponsoring organisation, suspension and/or deregistration and for doctors with conditional registration where a doctor is registered to work. |

Registration information is published in the Western Australian Government Gazette as at 30 June each year and on the Website of the Board. In the absence of a practice address, the postal address will appear in the Government Gazette. |

If you object to the Board providing registration information to State and Federal Government bodies that deal with, manage and provide health services other than those it is obliged so to do, please notify the Board in writing. |
